Sometimes a piece of furniture is so much more than it appears! In this case, it was a special Christmas gift for my best friend, partner and wife Amiee. At first glance it may appear to be just a simple coffee table, however, it is so much more. Constructed of solid quarter sawn white oak with a solid walnut accent edge, lift top, and the strongest dovetailed leg to apron joint possible, is just the start of a long life for this "simple coffee table." Even though we have a beautiful solid cherry dining table and an awesome birds-eye maple office desk, this piece is still at the center of our lives at home. You see, it's where we start each day with our morning coffee while we discuss all that we need to accomplish throughout the day. It's also where we pay our bills, order our materials, quote our projects, communicate with our customers and write this blog post. On most evenings, we will even eat our supper on this simple table, and after a long day prop up our feet. It's where the granddaughters draw their pictures, play their games, and open their gifts.... This is definitely much more than a simple coffee table! It may sound crazy, but it is almost part of our family, and it was built with love for the one that I love!
